This was supposed to be a romantic note…but,
apparently, it turned into something different. The duality of our expectations
is always surprising - when we thrive to be sentimental, something happens and
bangs us back to the ugly truth. And when we just assume our disappointment - hope appears in a curious shape.
During my last visit to Geneva, among the other
events, we decided to show the UN quaters to our kids. Eyes wide opened, they
were moving from a place to place, impressed by the stories we were telling.
During the tour we entered in the Delegates café (Café des Delegués), almost
empty at that very moment. Looking at the frescoes, my son noted "You
know, mom, this dragon looks like a crocodile." The phrase made me realize that dragons, actually, are crocodiles, that we are much afraid of. Fear is
the main vehicle against freedom…always when the chains are not our
own choice.
